It already features Jinx and the city of Piltover. Riot was so impressed with the work that they asked Fortiche to make an animated series, which took several years to create. Following the release of the first season, Riot announced that there will be a second season and that it will take less time to produce. Arcane tells the story of two young orphaned sisters growing up and getting into trouble in the dual cities of Zaun and Piltover. The series is based on the video game League of Legends, and while it drops you right into this fictional world, it takes the time and care to set up the locations and characters in a commendable show-don’t-tell way. Solid character development and world-building mean it’s a thoroughly enjoyable playthrough without knowing anything about the game. The animation is completely exquisite. As an anime fan, I found the animation in Arcane to be far beyond anything I’ve seen in an animated series before. There’s incredible attention to detail. It’s clear that no artistic talent or monetary expense was spared in bringing the world of Runeterra to life. Great soundtrack, great acting, and a captivating story that pulls no punches when it comes to violence and more adult themes. Only the first three episodes have been released so far, and I can’t wait to see what else they have in store for us!
