A modern day story about finding your fortune in the oil rig world of West Texas. The role of a landowner is usually to negotiate and make agreements with landowners who have mineral rights to lease those rights to the company they represent. They essentially manage the land and secure leases so they can extract oil and gas. As foremen on the construction site, they build roads, oversee the construction of housing for workers (man camps), set up excavation equipment, and drill wells, especially in remote locations. They are also part Fixer, Problem Solver, and Facilitator. As featured on CBS News Sunday Morning: Episode #44.24 (2022). This could easily be rated an 8.5 – 9. Ex-wife/mother. They serve no plot purpose and are simply annoying and offensive to the women of West Texas. As someone from far west Texas, I understand where Sheridan is coming from, but it’s awful. West Texas women are some of the strongest and most ambitious women I know. That aside, the writing and acting are excellent. Sheridan easily has another Yellowstone on her hands if she can get rid of the very awkward interfamilial corners. But again, I love Sheridan’s writing (and acting) and most importantly, a very enjoyable show.
